  • Welcome to the online home of Christopher Quine. Studio Fountainbird is my laboratory for exploring how technology can enrich human experience. While people often label me a creative technologist or new media artist, I'm really just someone who's endlessly curious about finding new ways to tell stories and create meaningful moments through digital means.

  • I bring together tech, design, and creative thinking to build things that surprise and delight. My work lives in that sweet spot where knowledge meets imagination - whether that's conjuring up ideas for interactive experiences, solving thorny problems, or finding new ways to harness technology to achieve Whoa!. I'm happiest when the instruction manual has yet to be written.

  • I help craft interactive experiences that bring analog and digital spaces to life. From concept to creation, I help you realize installations and online experiences that invite people to pause, play, and connect with their surroundings in unexpected ways. I always like to start with a simple question: how can we make this space spark curiosity and wonder?

  • I've been creating digital experiences for public spaces since digital was just beginning to transform museums and installations. I've worked with, and learned from many mentors along the way. Back in the early 2000s (okay, maybe late '99), when large-format interactive displays were more science fiction than science fact, I was there - experimenting, learning, and helping shape how people interact with digital spaces. Those pioneering days taught me lessons that still influence my work today.

  • Some of my best ideas have emerged from the energy of working closely with others - whether it's brainstorming with curators to bring an exhibition concept to life, or joining forces with developers to push technical boundaries. After years of museum and public space projects, I've learned that great experiences aren't created in isolation. They come from real collaboration, where everyone's expertise and perspective helps shape something remarkable.

  • That said, I can also get into my flow state independently.

  • Need help conceptualizing your space? I'm happy sketching out possibilities, iterating on themes, trying something wacky to solve the puzzle at hand.

  • I continously evolve my toolset so that I've always got what's needed to help you achieve Whoa! - Hello there AI. I see you.

  • Unreal Engine, touchdesigner, github, various audio DAW's are top of my list to facilitate wild and wonderful experiential design. And of course the Adobe suite has been with me since day 1. The list is actually exhuastive so I'll just say that software and tools comprehension is a strong suit.

  • I work vigorously to find that sweet spot where deep thinking meets intuitive design.

  • The visuals on this site were achieved using a custom-trained approach - building on the Flux1 foundation model and developing specialized LoRAs from my portfolio of work. Everything was generated locally using open-source tools, giving me precise control over the creative process. It's a fitting reflection of how I approach technology: making it personal, keeping it independent, and always experimenting with what's possible.

  • I've got some sweet hardware that loves to churn out awesomeness

  • Did I mention I like working with artifacts?

  • It's not about choosing sides - sometimes a beautifully crafted physical object is exactly what's needed, other times it's a digital interface, but often it's the thoughtful blend of both that creates the most meaningful experiences.

  • Maybe you've got a stadium that needs more Whoa!

  • Or a forest?

  • Something larger than life?

  • Perhaps you want true immersion in your exhibits

  • While many treat audio as an afterthought, I see it as fundamental to how we feel, move, and connect in an environment. Over years of creating soundscapes for museums and public spaces, I've learned that the right audio design can transform a quiet gallery into an immersive story, or help visitors instinctively understand how to flow through a space.

  • What's an epic experience without realtime interaction? (and how does she do that with her hand? :)

  • My most recently completed collaborative project used Unreal Engine and Metahuman technology to create compelling realtime interactions with digital characters. More about that in my projects section.
